📅 2 May 2026 — Planning

I thought of making another project. This project,PasteDB was my first FastAPI project.Which could give me real user and experience,I first thought of big projects like a social media app, etc
But I saw code sharing is not easy, if easy not secure, if secure then no good design and if all there are in a paste sharing app then lack of cool features I started PasteDB On 2 May 2026, I started the repo Yes a blank repo and first commit was fired, the Initial Commit for readme. When the repo made, many questions in my mind will i be able to make it? would i get real users?if yes how much?if no why?

The TENSION:
ON 2 May i started the project.
ON 3 May, my birthday
ON 4 May, my report day for 9th final exams, in which I scored 92%.

📅 2 May 2026 — Files

i started making the MVP, THE basic app I made the files frontend/index.html and frontend/create.html and backend/main.py the whole project was to be made from HTML FASTAPI and for storage MongoDB Atlas

📅 3 May 2026 — Small changes to go

This day i changed the create.html from 0 to almost 789 lines i declared index.html to be Under Development along with that i also started building the main.py i thought mvp is ready

📅 4 May 2026 — Some security

Created dashboard.html and also worked to make it FUNCTIONAL i just added a SINGLE Continue with Google Button for registerations and logins , yes only that one button and after struggling for a few hours in evening i did it well dashboard become functional

📅 18 May 2026 onwards — Big Break

18th May onwards i stopped PasteDB project and started working on other project named ChatSun (a web based chatting app backed by FastAPI), i thought nothing more can i do on PasteDB
I even stopped maintaining the server where backend was hosted i thought this project FAILED!!!

📅 10 June 2026 — After Big Break

After taking long break for PasteDB i wanted to participate in a hackathon, i saw devpost, i participated with PasteDB on devpost, so in that case I again started working on it i requested indexing for homepage and create page on google search console

Status of PasteDB after 10 June

i started for seo i didn't have money to buy a custom domain, i had a subdomain pastedb.netlify.app, i didnt ran for money and fancy domains that time. i tried to post PasteDB on reddit, but reddit moderators deleted my posts, i went on dev to, i got great response, users followed me, asked about PasteDB During this on 13 July i integrated Google Analytics 4 to track users

Mid of July 2026

At this period i was calm on coding but more active on seo and getting users on 22 july 6:30pm i saw analytics, 98 active users 98 new users Very close to 100 and 5 returning users users came from various places most of them were from USA and most have iPhone

Friday 14 August 2026

Today i made a CLI tool for PasteDB.
it was made and launces on the same day, 11 versions where published and tested on Android(Termux)
PasteDB CLI allows developers to uploaded a file or raw text directly from terminal, no browser opening
I made that because I came to know that in some countries Netlify was banned, so viewing the site was difficult, for interacting users with PasteDB, i made PasteDB CLI
Now writing this Section on 9:51 PM, MADE PasteDB CLI available
run npm install -g pastedb-cli
(first install nodejs)
Today also i published to NPM JS ( of course it was in JavaScript )
I made a dev to post for that also and Designed a readme for CLI USAGE and a dedicated DOCS page for CLI at https://pastedb.netlify.app/cli

Today I hosted a hackathon on dev to, thale start...
Came from school walking... ,yes i come by walking, i have no 2 wheeler, I have a 4 wheeler but father goes to office by that, so thats why ... lunch overed at about 2pm,
first completed the school work which included, one page math, the pending Social science chapter, 2-3 questions of science chapter, completed one gujarati chapter(poem) and an english Supplementary Reader chapter,
at last packed the bag for Saturday and after that looked at pastedb,
WAS LOSING USERS ON GOOGLE ANALYTICS 4,
thought of this hackathon on about 7:30 PM so...

Kidding Points

I made Nearby Transfer which could transfer public pastes(url) instantly if the receiver is at the transfer page and had followed the rules there. But after that I realized that the same feature Apple provides in their PRODUCTS, in which there are some limitations which PasteDB solved
here are they
in AirDrop, short range(approx 10m), works only on apple ones, need Bluetooth and WiFi , Privacy Risk*
in PasteDB, range upto 100m, works on each device which has internet and location(location is not compulsory), no privacy Risk(the receiver is only visible for 10s only), *Privacy Risks on "Everyone": Leaving your device set to receive from everyone in public spaces can lead to unwanted or spam file requests.

Struggles on Resources

i had a Samsung galaxy m21 with 64GB internal storage and a 10 year old (around 2010 year) laptop of dell with i3 processor, and model was Inspiron N5010, Laptop was slow as it had a Hard drive Now PasteDB comprises of Web Interface, Python SDK, Node js SDK And VS code extension first 3 parts , the Web interface and SDKs (python and node js) were made on a Samsung Galaxy M21 where Extension was made on that laptop Firtly i had 2 versions of extension for user use To make sdk and extension work api keys were essential espicially for extension so along with sdk i also made an api key managment system for each user Now i hardly spent 3 months on PasteDB, from building, development, deployment, SEO, adding useful features, etc more features can be added but that now more than sufficient features were added.
